Museums at Washington and Lee University: Online Exhibits

Reeves Collection of Ceramics

The Reeves Museum of Ceramics houses the University’s ceramic collection and the paintings by Louise Herreshoff. The Reeves Collection began in 1967 with a gift from alumnus Euchlin Reeves (1903-1967) and his wife Louise Herreshoff (1876-1967). The galleries contain objects that tell stories of design, technology and trade and illustrate how people drank, dined and decorated their homes over the past five centuries. The museums also showcases the paintings of Louise Herreshoff, classically trained painter and wife of Washington and Lee University alumnus and donor Euchlin Reeves. Her paintings are inspired by European Fauvism, Realism and Impressionism.
