Title
Introduction to American Ceramics
Original Format
Ceramics have been made in North America for thousands of years, first by Native Americans and later by European immigrants.
The vast majority of pots made in America were undecorated, utilitarian wares, but some potters tried to compete with European and Asian imports by making finer, more decorative ceramics. Their pots were inspired by European and Asian ceramics, the American landscape and American heroes.
