Portrait of George Washington after the Gilbert Stuart Lansdowne portrait. Washington is shown standing, wearing a black coat with a white and gray shirt and blouse, black shoes, and black pants. He is holding a sheathed sword in his left hand and his right hand is extended outward in a welcoming manner. Washington is standing in front of a wooden chair with an American flag emblem at the top. To his right is a wooden table with red tablecloth, featuring various books, quils, and papers. In the background is a purple-brown curtain hanging near white, cylindrical columns.
